A House of Prayer for All People
Pastor Dan — known to most simply as Bro. Pudge — carries a burden for the Gospel that goes back generations.
Bro. Pudge's late grandparents started a church in Pennsylvania in the 1950s and genuinely believed God's House should be a "House of Prayer for All People." Their conviction wasn't just words — their church was among the first in the Northeast to open its doors to all races at a time when many would not, welcoming everyone to worship together under one roof.
Bro. Pudge was raised under their ministry and witnessed firsthand a generation that believed church was about far more than attending a service.
- They prayed.
- They fasted.
- They preached.
- They sacrificed.
- They served.
- They believed the Bible.
- And they believed people could genuinely be changed by the power of God.
Bro. Pudge was ordained at the age of 25 and began doing the work of the Lord.
That foundation has never left him.
Zimbabwe, Africa
From Home to Africa
Bro. Pudge also spent time in Zimbabwe, Africa, doing missionary work — preaching, serving, and studying the Word of God intensely.
While there, he visited multiple churches that had been built through the ministry and witnessed believers worshipping God under circumstances very different from those many Americans experience.
Those experiences strengthened a conviction that has remained with him:
The Gospel doesn't need to be reinvented. It needs to be preached.
- The same Jesus who saved generations before us still saves today.
- The same Blood still cleanses.
- The same Gospel still changes lives.
- The same Holy Ghost still empowers believers.
- And the same Bible is still true.
Family
Alongside Bro. Pudge Is His Wife, Sis. Michelle
Together, their family includes two sons and two daughters.
Sis. Michelle is a Pediatric Nurse who has worked with young children for many years through various children's programs, including Sunday school.
Family is an important part of the vision for BHL of Raleigh because we believe the Church should:
- —Help strengthen homes.
- —Reach children and young people.
- —Restore broken families.
- —Provide a genuine church family for people who need one.
That is also why the long-term vision for BHL extends beyond a Sunday sanctuary. The desire is to create a place where:
- —Families can worship.
- —Children can grow.
- —People can fellowship.
- —Hurting people can find help.
- —Relationships can be built around Jesus Christ.
